to the Association of Ghanaians in Victoria, BC!

We are a vibrant community that brings together Ghanaians residing in the beautiful city of Victoria and our friends. Our association promotes unity, celebrates cultures and creates avenues to share memorable experiences. Whether you are a long-time resident, a newcomer, or just curious about our rich Ghanaian heritage, you are welcome to join us.

While our association was officially incorporated as a society in BC in January 2024, our formal programming started a year before culminating in the first celebration of Ghana’s independence in March 2023 in Victoria, BC. This was followed by a summer outdoor celebration in July 2023. Even before these activities, there had long been an informal network of Ghanaians in various parts of Vancouver Island, congregating and communing.

Through our events, activities, and initiatives, we aim to foster connections, create a supportive network, promote a sense of belonging and opportunities for inter-cultural learning. Explore our website to stay updated on upcoming gatherings, cultural festivities, and community projects. Join us in preserving and sharing the warmth of Ghanaian traditions while embracing the diversity that makes our community thrive.

We organize two major events each year: a celebration of Ghana’s independence in March and an outdoor family event in the summer. There may be other events in between and we will keep you posted about them. In addition to this website, we maintain a Whatsapp group, Instagram page, and a Facebook page where important information is disseminated to community members. Thank you for being part of our story.
